Garage fire in Wetumpka leaves heavy damage

WETUMPKA, AL (WSFA) -

A fire in Wetumpka leaves a detached garage heavily damaged.

Officials say the Wetumpka Fire Department responded to the home on Jasmine Hill road, in the Blue Ridge area, just before midnight. Four units worked to put out the fire and luckily there were no injuries. There was also no damage to the home.

A neighbor reported that he saw lightning strike the garage minutes before seeing the flames.

    The Mississippi Highway Patrol is looking for a driver who ran away from the scene of a deadly crash in George County. Three children were killed in the crash. Troopers said a green 2003 Kia Optima was heading east on Highway 198, east of Depot Road, shortly before 4 p.m. on Saturday.
