DALEVILLE, AL (WSFA) -

An active duty lieutenant colonel in the United States Army from Daleville has been placed under arrest and is charged with electronic solicitation of a child after police say he traveled to meet a child for an unlawful event.

According to police 44-year-old Christopher D. Wood, who is on military leave, was arrested on Thursday after it was reported that he was having a conversation through text message with a 15-year-old girl, who was actually an undercover investigator.

Wood's allegedly detailed sexual acts he wished to perform on the girl and agreed to meet her in Clayhatchee. Upon his arrival at the pre-arranged meeting location he was taken into arrest.

Wood's has since been transported to the Daleville City Jail awaiting transfer to the Dale County Jail. His first appearance is Friday at the Dale County Courthouse.

No additional details are being released as the case is still under investigation.
