HUNTSVILLE, AL (WAFF) - An online video that is believed to be connected to a robbery report from over the weekend has surfaced. The video, which has hundreds of shares on Facebook, shows a group of people fighting in what’s believed to be the Madison Square Mall parking lot in Huntsville.Mall management confirmed they’re aware of the video and believe it’s connected to a shoplifting report from July 5.

According to Huntsville police, a Belk loss prevention employee was assaulted as he attempted to stop a female offender from stealing merchandise.

Two men with the female offender then assaulted a Belk employee. The group then left Belk with stolen property.

Mall management believe the robbery spilled out into the parking lot where the video was shot.

Belk released a statement about the incident on Monday.

"We were made aware of the incident that occurred at our Madison Square store," said Jessica Graham, VP of Communications & Community Relations. "Our loss prevention associates are fully trained in the pursuit and detention of suspects. The video that has been released online does not portray the full incident. Both associates suffered minor injuries, and are recovering today. I appreciate your concern."

Customers across the street viewed the video. Many expressed shock about seeing this kind of altercation take place in Huntsville.

"I would have stepped in," said resident Vicki Tompkins. "I probably would have gotten hit, but I would have tried to stop it. You just don't want them fighting out there; someone could get really hurt."

Huntsville police said no arrests were made at the time the report was filed.
