Tuskegee University accepted the resignation of the men's head basketball coach on Wednesday.

Leon Douglas has been the head basketball at Tuskegee since 2006 accumulating a record of 118-114.

Due to his recent successful championship season, Tuskegee offered Douglas a compensation package that would have made him the highest paid basketball coach in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

"I appreciate coach Douglas' commitment to Tuskegee basketball," said athletic director Curtis Campbell. "We had a very successful season and I wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors."

The university will immediately begin a search to find his replacement.
