MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office is preparing for its next Firearms Familiarization Course which will be held this Saturday.

The class is always held on a Saturday and lasts eight hours. The first four hours are classroom instruction on firearm safety and firearm laws. The second four hours are on the Firing Range under the instruction of the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office Range Master.

The class is free to all Montgomery County citizens but you must obtain a pistol permit prior to registering for the class and they ask citizens to not bring children to the class.

If you need to apply for a pistol permit, you can do so by visiting The Montgomery County Sheriff website or by going to the Sheriff's Office at 115 South Perry Street, 2nd floor of Annex I Building, Legal Services Division.
