ENTERPRISE, AL (WSFA) -

A Tier 1 supplier to Hyundai Motor Company's Montgomery, Alabama assembly plant is earning a prestigious automotive industry honor - '2014 Supplier of the Year' - but the award isn't coming from Hyundai.

Chrysler Group, on of the "Big Three" U.S. automakers, is awarding the honor to HS Automotive Alabama, a Korean-based company located in Enterprise.

"HSAA has advanced to the level of ‘Main Supplier' in North America, and we all should be proud of this accomplishment," company president Harry Kim said.

While HSAA is a major supplier to Hyundai, it also feeds supply needs of many other car makers including Kia, Mitsubishi, Chrysler and others. Chrysler depends on the company for weather stripping, air conditioner and brake hoses for use on its Dodge Ram trucks, Dodge Dart sedans, Jeep Cherokee SUVs and Chrysler 200C sedans.

The award comes just months after HSAA celebrated the opening of its second operations plant and the announcement of a third expansion that promises more than 200 additional jobs. When completed, the company expects to have a total of 600 on the payroll.

Enterprise Mayor Kenneth Boswell visited the plant, which he helped recruit to town 11 years ago, to congratulate its employees.

Kim says the award comes with increased responsibility and challenges, knowing his customers will expect higher quality products and better productivity.

"We must constantly, step by step, work every day to become better," Kim said. "We must raise the bar for ourselves to make sure that we do not go backwards, do not become complacent."

With improvements, a new goal is set for the company and Kim believes HSAA can become the "#1 Supplier in the World".
