Evansville announces new plan for bike paths

Posted: Updated:
EVANSVILLE, IN (WFIE) -

The city of Evansville announced Saturday they are working on updating the plan for bikes and pedestrians throughout the city and have a few different options for bike paths.

There's no official word on where the bike paths will be located.

The city is reaching out to the public to find out where bike paths are needed and which kind would be most desired.

Evansville Transportation Planner Craig Luebke says the planning will go on for the rest of the year, with the plan being released next spring.

He says they've been hearing a lot of desire for bike lanes and that's why they want to add them now.

"That's certainly something that we get a lot of confirmation from," says Luebke. "There's a lot of interest in providing additional streets. Through the outreach we've done, a lot of people have been interested in more provisions for cyclists in the community."
