Children find mother dead in Metairie

METAIRIE, LA (WVUE) -

Two children found their mother dead early Sunday morning in the 4000 block of Durand Street.

The two children, ages 5 and 8, knocked on their neighbors door around 3:35 a.m. on July 13 to tell them something was wrong with their mother, according to Sheriff Newell Normand with the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office.

Police were on the scene shortly after and found the body of a Hispanic woman unconscious in her bathtub with a blunt force trauma wound to the head according to a release from the JPSO.

The woman was pronounced dead on the scene. Her husband, who fled the scene, is a possible suspect. Police did not release his name.
