AUTAUGA CO., AL (WSFA) -
Ten days after the armed robbery of the Chevron gas station on U.S. Highway 31 North near Prattville, law enforcement says they have three suspects in custody.
Kevin Lavarius Martin, 24; Scottie Jeroma Groce, 31; and Tremane Darnell Carthen, 35, all of Montgomery, are each facing multiple charges for the July 14 holdup.
All three are facing 6 counts of robbery first degree. Martin and Carthen also have 1 count of kidnapping first degree added to their charges.
The attempted robbery of the Chevron started around 1 a.m. when two
men walked into the store, one armed with a semi-automatic pistol and
one with a shotgun. The kidnapping charges spring from the fact that two
customers and the store clerk were held captive by the robbers. The third suspect was waiting outside the business in a getaway vehicle.
The Autauga Co. Sheriff's office says its investigation shows evidence that links the robbery to other robbery cases in Elmore County and Wetumpka.
The Autauga County Sheriff's Office, Elmore County Sheriff's Office, Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms, and the Wetumpka Police Department worked together to link the robberies at the Chevron at 31 North and I 65, North Elmore Chevron, and the Wetumpka Marathon.
The U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force helped locate the suspects, who were then transported to the Autauga Co. Sheriff's office to be interviewed by every investigative agency involved in the cases.
They're being held in Autauga County's jail with holds on each for the Elmore County Sheriff's office and Wetumpka Police Dept.
The bond for each defendant in Autauga County is $60,000 on each robbery count and $60,000 on each kidnapping count. $120,000.00 total on each.
The bond for each defendant in Elmore County is $15,000 cash on each robbery count. $30,000 cash total on each.
The bond for each defendant in Wetumpka is $15,000 on
each robbery count. $45,000.00 total on each.
