CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

Thousands of fire fighters from across the country have descended on Cincinnati for the 2014 International Association of Fire Fighters Conference (IAFF).

They will spend the week discussing important issues like trends in public safety and how the Affordable Care Act will affect the demand for post-hospital care, which fire fighters are trained to provide.

It's an important conference as public safety is constantly evolving, and IAFF represents more than 300,000 professional fire fighters and paramedics who keep us safe.

Additionally, they'll be rolling out a new campaign to help stop texting while driving.

The #JustifyIt campaign aims to educate the public on the dangers of texting while driving.

Firefighters respond to hundreds of accidents daily caused by distracted driving and each incident could have been preventable.

The local firefighters union, IAFF Local 48, is excited to host the conference in Cincinnati, which hails at the birthplace of professional fire fighters.

Visiting fire fighters will be here through Friday and while they are here, they'll be out and about learning more about the city of Cincinnati.
