AUSTIN, TX (KTRE) -

A multi-agency investigation resulted in the arrest of a 60-year-old man with East Texas ties that had been on the Texas Department of Public Safety’s 10 Most Wanted Sex Offender list on July 10.

Leo Colston, whose last known address was in Nacogdoches, was arrested in downtown Los Angeles without any further incident after authorities tracked him to California.

Colston was wanted for sex offender registration and failure to register as a sex offender. His past criminal convictions include indecency with a child by sexual conduct, failure to register as a sex offender, sexual battery, prostitution, aggravated assault with a weapon, discharging a firearm in public, theft of property, larceny, and trespassing.

The multi-agency investigation included DPS, the U.S. Marshal’s Service, the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office, and the Los Angeles Police Department. According to a press release, the capture was not the result of a tip, so no reward will be paid.

“So far in 2014, DPS and other agencies have arrested 12 Texas 10 Most Wanted fugitives, including six sex offenders and four gang members, and $34,500 in rewards has been paid for tips that resulted in arrests,” the press release stated. “The cash rewards are funded by the Governor’s Criminal Justice Division.”
