6 bold burglaries in Union Springs in just 2 weeks

UNION SPRINGS, AL (WSFA) -

South Prairie Street in Union Springs. It's well-traveled and all the more reason Ashecka Harris is shocked no one saw whoever broke into her dad's home in broad daylight.

Harris says it happened three days ago. Harris' father was not at home at the time, and his family is not alone.

"I guess they just backed up the driveway and broke in," Harris said.

At the corner of Cooper and Hardaway the criminal or criminals somehow made their way inside a two story home while the couple slept, stole $400 in cash and walked out. Incredibly, the homeowners never knew it until the next morning.

"We've beefed up patrol in these areas," said Union Springs Police Chief Danny Jackson.

The residential burglaries have all occurred well within the city limits and most of those crimes have taken place on Powell Street.

"They've taken mainly electronics and what they typically do is get rid of that quickly," said Jackson.

City investigators say they have good leads but so far there are no suspects in custody.
