HENDERSON COUNTY, TX (KLTV) -

Sheriff's deputies arrested an Athens mother for capital murder on Monday after the woman told police she killed her 4-year-old daughter, the day the young girl was supposed to go and sign up for pre-K.

According to the sheriff's office, Stacie Marie Parsons, 25, walked into the Athens Police Department just before 9 a.m. on Monday and told police she killed her daughter, Victoria Wyatt. When police arrived, they found Victoria dead in the trunk of a car with trauma to her head and chest at Parsons' home in the 400 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in Athens.

Officers determined Victoria was killed off of Henderson County Road 1500 and notified the sheriff's office because the crime happened outside city limits.

Victoria's father, Gary Wyatt, told KLTV that Sunday night, he informed Parsons that he wanted a divorce. Wyatt and Parsons have been married by common law for six years.

Monday morning when he woke up, Parsons was already gone with Victoria. He assumed Parsons took the girl to enroll in pre kindergarten. But sometime later, Parsons arrived back at the house, parked her car, and walked away. When they tried to speak to her, she simply said, "I wouldn't be in that car if I were you."

The family went back to the car, and found Victoria in the trunk, wrapped in a garbage bag. They tried unsuccessfully to revive her in the front yard.

"Oh, God it was awful. Foaming out of her mouth, her head was bashed in," said Wyatt through tears. "My baby's dead, she killed my baby,"

Wyatt said his wife was never violent towards the girl.

"To be honest with you, I think she's been jealous of that little girl since the day she was born," Wyatt said.

But family friend Randy Dyess says Parsons has made threats before, just days ago.

"She said I'd rather kill Victoria and spend the rest of my life in prison, than to put up with you," Dyess said.

"It makes you wonder about human nature," said Henderson County Sheriff Ray Nutt. "About why people do the things they do."

Parsons, 25, was booked into the Henderson County Jail on Monday. Parsons' bond was set at $2 million.

Nutt says he is not ready to release a motive in the death of the child. The family says Parsons has no criminal history, or any history with CPS.

Victoria's body was sent to Dallas for an autopsy.

The family didn't have insurance for Victoria and has set up a Facebook page to raise money for funeral expenses.
