WEST BATON ROUGE PARISH, LA (WAFB) - Jury selection began Monday in West Baton Rouge Parish for a man accused of killing a Brusly High School football player in May of 2012.

Marcus Richardson is on trial for second degree murder. He is accused of killing 18-year-old Justin Warner at the LA 1 Truck Plaza in Port Allen.

According to authorities, Warner was sitting in the back seat of a car when his friends had an argument with Richardson at the gas station.

He was in the process of moving to the back of the car when someone pulled out a gun and he was shot.

If convicted of second-degree murder Richardson faces life in prison.

Warner's family says on the day he was killed, he put flowers on his mother's grave and visited his grandmother before meeting up with his friends that night; it was Mother's Day.
