OPELIKA, AL (WSFA) -

Opelika police say a man was arrested for allegedly taking $86.50 worth of ribeye steaks during a robbery at a grocery store.

James Lanier Heard, 48, of Opelika, is charged with third degree robbery and booked in the Lee County Detention Center.

Police responded to a report of a robbery at 1:15 p.m. Sunday at Wright's Grocery on Pleasant Drive.

According to police, the suspect stole seven packages of ribeye steaks, and when a store employee confronted him outside, he acted like he was going to show a weapon, threatened the employee and then fled.

Police apprehended the suspect a short distance away.

Police say all of the meat was recovered from the suspect.
