Mass murder suspect Desmonte Leonard in sex case against fmr. correctional officer

MONTGOMERY CO., AL (WSFA) -

WSFA 12 News has learned that the inmate/victim in the case against a former Montgomery County Detention Facility corrections officer is now identified as Auburn mass shooting suspect Desmonte Leonard.

On Monday, Shemarra Montgomery was placed under arrest for allegedly having sex with Leonard. According to Sheriff D.T. Marshall, Shemarra is being charged with custodial sexual misconduct.

Shemarra resigned from her position with the department on Wednesday. Her husband, who is also a corrections officer, was also arrested and charged in connection with the case.

Marshall says deputies went to the Montgomery's home to arrest Shemarra and her husband, Curtis Montgomery allegedly lied to deputies. He has been charged with hindering prosecution.

According to the court documents, Curtis Montgomery is an Alabama Department of Corrections employee. WSFA 12 News has contacted the department of corrections for more information on Curtis Montgomery's employment with the department. There has been no response.

Shemarra Montgomery and Curtis Montgomery were both released from jail on $10,000 and $1,000 bond, respectively.
