FORT DEPOSIT, AL (WSFA) -

According to Sean Hughes, Associate Director of Corporate Affairs, a relief bus has arrived and is now enroute to New Orleans with the passengers.

Passengers aboard a Megabus were stuck in Fort Deposit on Wednesday after the bus suffered a mechanical issue and the driver became ill. The bus was heading from Atlanta to New Orleans.

According to Hughes, the bus experienced a mechanical problem at 5 p.m. on the way to New Orleans, when the air conditioning on the bus unexpectedly quit.

The bus then pulled into a service station in Fort Deposit to assess the situation with the air conditioning, and another bus was dispatched to pick up the passengers and take them to New Orleans.

That is when the driver of the bus, that encountered the mechanical problem, became ill and was transported to a local hospital.

The company has recruited a driver and bus from a local Alabama company to come and drive the passengers to New Orleans.

One of the passengers told WSFA that they were stranded without a driver at the Petrol Gas Station off of exit 142.

Megabus stated that, "We sincerely apologize to the affected customers for the inconvenience and have provided everyone with a full refund."
