MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

A pedestrian died late Wednesday night after being struck by a vehicle in Covington County, confirms Alabama State Troopers.

Richard Lee Swinson, 40, was walking on Alabama 55 approximately 3 miles north of Andalusia when he was fatally struck by a vehicle. The incident happened at 10:05 p.m.

Investigators say the Red Level resident was pronounced dead at the scene around 10:05 p.m.

The driver of the vehicle, Red Level resident John D. Chandler, 45, was not injured.

The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.
