Auburn man arrested, accused of stealing $12,000 worth of jewelry

AUBURN, AL (WTVM) -

Casey J. Williams, 26, from Auburn has been arrested on afelony warrant after police say he stole jewelry from someone's home.

On July 22, a theft of property report was filed with Auburnpolice originally stating that someone stole jewelry valued at over $9,000 from a residence in the 1400 blockof Turn Lake Dr. sometime between June 1 and 11.

Police developed Williams as a suspect during investigation,and determined that he was a guest at the residence during the time frame thetheft occurred. They also say he sold the stolen jewelry at a local business.

Police recovered the jewelry that was originally reportedstolen, and also recovered some additional jewelry valued at $3,000 that hadnot been discovered missing at the time of the original report.  The total recovery value was over $12,000.

Detectives obtained a warrant for Theft of Property First Degree.Williams was located and taken into custody by police.

He was transported to the Lee County Detention Facility wherehis bond was set at $5,000.
