MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

Officials with the City of Saint Jude held a special ribbon-cutting Friday to officially open a brand new community playground.

The playground, located at the Father Purcell Memorial Exceptional Children's Center, is compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act meaning it's built especially for children with disabilities.

A more than $16,000 grant from the Junior League of Montgomery paid for the sub-base and special surfacing of the playground.

The City of Saint Jude was one of seven local charities selected to receive a grant from the Junior League this year.
