MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

Gov. Robert Bentley has appointed Pike Road resident Pam Ware to the Alabama State University Board of Trustees.

According to the governor's office, Pam currently works for the Business Council of Alabama as the Intergovernmental Affairs.

Ware is filling the spot created when Elton Dean resigned last week.

Ware released the following statement:

"I am deeply honored that Governor Bentley has appointed me to serve on the Board of Trustees for Alabama State University. I am excited about this opportunity, and I look forward to working with other board members, Dr. Boyd, faculty and staff, alumni and most importantly the students to carry out the mission of this outstanding university. We have a critical mission that involves restoring this institution to financial soundness and restoring public confidence in the administration. As an alumna I have a great love for my university and I am humbled to be selected to help move this university in the right direction."
