ABI investigating after MPD officer fires weapon at suspect

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

The Alabama Bureau of Investigation is looking into an officer-related shooting case follow a Montgomery police officer's discharge of a weapon.

The incident is said to have happened around midnight Tuesday in the 4300 block of Virginia Loop Road. Two Montgomery police officers reported seeing a suspicious person, but when they approached the man, he fled on foot.

The officers reported being fired at by the unknown subject and one officer returned fire.

Neither officer was wounded in the shooting incident and the suspect was able to flee. Authorities say there is no indication on the scene that the man was wounded.

The ABI's investigation is standard procedure.
