MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Hundreds of the nation's finest artists and craftsman are in our area right now.

The event happening all weekend long at the Myrtle Beach Convention center is the 32nd Annual Craftsmen's Classic. Not only is it ranked among the top 100 in the country, it is name the top three in the state.

This year there are over 200 exhibitors from over 20 states. This show is among the most elite in the country because vendors have to get juried in to participate.

"If we can look at it and say, 'oh I can run to Michael's and pick up a glue gun and do this.' Then it's probably not for this show. We're looking for the best of the best," explained Carly Gilmore, advertising and marketing director of Gilmore's shows.

Some of the vendors are local, but most of them travel from out of state and for many it is worth the trip.

"I always liked it because, you know, Myrtle Beach is such a nice place to visit. So I get to stay down here even though I am close. I enjoy it," explained Justine Ferreri, artist from North Carolina.

Most of the artist develop relationships with the clientele. Making it even more desirable to return again in the future.

"We have so many people who come to this show who are customers of ours and have been for many years," said David Traber, Owner of Hulmet's Strudel.

This event brings in thousands of dollars to our local area. That's because people who come bring their friends and family and make the three day art event into a mini vacation. This then trickles down to our hotels, entertainment, and restaurants.
