The Millbrook Police Department has arrested a man in connection to a home burglary that occurred on Wednesday.
Police responded to the 100 block of Meadow Lane on multiple occasions in regards to a suspicious subject in the area.
At 1:56 p.m., officers arrived in the area where the subject had last been seen, at which point 33-year-old Adam Mark Moomey spotted the officers and entered a residence through an open garage door.
Officers secured the residence and the surrounding areas, as they attempted to contact the subject inside.
At some point when the officers were securing the area, the individual inside armed himself with a hunting rifle that belonged to the home owner. The individual then proceeded to point the weapon at officers outside of the residence. As a result, officers from the Millbrook Police Department's Special Operation Unit and deputies with the Elmore County Sheriff's Special Operation Unit were dispatched to the home.
As officers attempted to convince the individual to exit the residence peacefully, tactical officers were preparing to make entry should it become necessary.
At some point, while officers were attempting to negotiate with the individual, he exited the home through the back in an attempt to flee the area on foot.
The subject was taken into custody at that time without incident and charged with third degree burglary and second degree theft of property.
He was taken to the Millbrook Police Department for processing and then transported to the Elmore County Jail. His bond has not been set at this time.
