Murders of Ozark teens remain unsolved 15 years later

Thursday night family and friends held a vigil in Ozark to remember J.B. Beasley and Tracie Hawlett.

Two crosses along with an angel now mark the spot on Herring Street where the two teens were found shot to death. It's a case that has gone unsolved going on 15 years.

It was Aug. 1, 1999 when the Mazda belonging to Beasley was located and both girls were found shot to death in the trunk. It appears the girls were on their way to a party and got lost.

The last sighting of them was at a convenience store, about a mile away from where they were found, asking for directions. With no arrest in the case, both families continue to hold on to hope.

Tracie Hawlett's mother, Carol, and step father, Mike, say there is not a day that goes by that they do not think about their daughter. They say it's their faith in God that keeps them going. They believe one day soon someone will be arrested and charged with the death of their daughter and her friend.

While there are no new leads in this case, Ozark police say they have worked countless hours along side other local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies and remain committed to solving this case.
