SPARTANBURG, SC (FOX Carolina) -

Police in Spartanburg are investigating after workers at a cemetery discovered several graves had been vandalism.

Police said the vandalism occurred at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens on Fernwood Glendale Road.

"It was just mainly some vandalism," according to Dean Marcoux, Greenlawn maintenance supervisor Vases were taken out and strewn around the area. There was no theft. The flowers were strewn around but we gathered those up."

The flowers were taken to the office at the neighboring J. F. Floyd funeral home for families to claim.

Marcoux said the most tragic part is that the crime took place in a section of the cemetery where children are buried.

No suspects have been named in the case.
