Police investigate Guyton shootout

SAVANNAH, GA (WTOC) -

Guyton police are investigating an overnight shootout that happened on Seventh Avenue near downtown Guyton.

Witnesses tell WTOC it was a crazy night. There were multiple cars driving around their neighborhood firing shots left and right.

Police believe the suspects involved were shooting at each other and were not targeting anyone who lived on the street.

Police shut down Seventh Ave at GA Highway 17 for a few hours early Saturday morning. They found multiple shell casings along the block and a bullet hole in a utility box.

Neighbors also say a window was broken and a tire was blown out. Luckily no one was injured but folks are still shaken up and are trying to make sense of what happened.

"That's what we couldn't understand, nobody saw anything," said neighbor Melvin Bishop.
"They were like lightening, they disappeared in a hurry."

Police tell WTOC they are still interviewing witnesses. They don't have anyone in custody, if you have any information call the Guyton Police Department: (912) 772-8745.
