Paintball participants raise money to fight breast cancer

Some Western Massachusetts residents had a chance to raise money to fight breast cancer on Saturday in a unique way.

Xtreme Paintball hosted their 7th annual breast cancer awareness day.

Organizers said the crowds have grown each year they have held the event, with hopes of hitting around $5,000 raised by the end of the day.

The group said they want to do what they can to help support something that hits close to home for a lot of people.

"We decided to put a benefit together to just try and raise some money," said Xtreme Paintball's Robert Mitus. "This is an ongoing event we run every year and we do it in honor of some of our mothers and aunts."

Proceeds from Saturday's event went to the Rays of Hope.

Organizers said the group also sponsors a team that walks each year in the Rays of Hope event.
