PORTLAND, Ore., Aug. 5, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Portland, Oregon is the U.S. city with the highest car rental rates this summer. That finding is the result of a new survey from CheapCarRental.net. The survey compared the cost to rent a car at over 100 destinations across the United States during the current month of August.
In Oregon's most populous city, car renters will have to pay an average of $111 per day for the cheapest available rental car in August. Slightly less expensive and coming in second place on the survey is Anchorage, Alaska, the USA's northernmost city. There, the average car rental rate is running $109 per day.
Kailua, a tourist center on the Island of Hawaii, rounds out the Top 3 with an average price tag of $101 per day. It must be mentioned that each destination's main airport was chosen as the Pick-Up and Drop-Off location. So for Kailua, the Kona International Airport was taken into consideration.
