NEWPORT, KY (FOX19) -

An 18-year-old was killed and a teen arrested in a Newport, Kentucky shooting Wednesday night.

When Police arrived to the 200 Block of Bluegrass Avenue around 8 p.m., they found 18-year-old D'Angelo Wilson in an apartment with a gunshot wound to the head.

The coroner has listed Wilson's death a homicide.

"It's actually unreal.  I can't believe it," said Marissa Trautman, the victim's sister.

Trautman heard gunshots from inside her apartment Barkley Ridge Apartments Wednesday night, but told FOX19 she thought is was a prank.  

"I heard them running, and actually, the guy came and banged on my door and said that my brother has been shot, and I ran over there," said Trautman.

A memorial for Wilson was set up at Newport High School Thursday, where he graduated. His sister said Wilson had two jobs, a scholarship to Morehead State and aspired to be a social worker.

Trautman told FOX19 the 17-year-old who shot her brother was simply an acquaintance, saying she "wouldn't call them friends." 

The teen was arrested and charged with murder for Wilson's death. Newport Police Chief Tom Collins says the gun used in the shooting has been recovered and they're still investigating the incident.
