Woman violently attacked at Dunbar Cave State Park

Police are searching for a man responsible for a violent crime in a state park. A woman was raped at Dunbar Cave State Park in Clarksville, and investigators believe it was a random attack.

According to Clarksville police, a woman was parked in the lot around 2:30 Tuesday morning thinking for several hours when a man she'd never met before approached asking for a light. Police said when she turned, the man hit her over the head, pulled her by her hair out of the vehicle, blindfolded her and forcibly raped her on a trail in the park. The man pointed a gun at her and told her to run or he would kill her. The woman got back to her car and was later transported to Gateway Medical Center.

According to the Department of Environment and Conservation, Dunbar Cave is a very safe park which closes each day at sunset and has extra lighting installed in the parking lot.

Police have not released specific enough details to identify the suspect yet. If you have any information, please contact Clarksville police.
