MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

Montgomery resident Nicole Bibb says there's no other way to put it, her daughter 26-year-old Ashley Harris made it clear that she doesn't care.

She and her boyfriend 18-year-old Deshawn Fields Junior left their 5 month old son seen here in his car seat behind this Saint James Missionary Baptist Church sign on Court Street.

"He got throwed away like he was trash," Bibb said. "He was dehydrated. He was covered in ants. He was just messed up."

Police says it happened around 2 in the afternoon in the heat of the day. You can still see his sock near the sign.

"I could have been going down to a morgue and holding my dead grand baby," Bibb said.

The parents have been charged with contributing to the dependency of a child.

"She had been staying here with me. I was helping her with DHR so she could get her case closed," Bibb said. A case Bibb says was opened when the 5 month old tested positive for drugs at birth.

Bibb says Ashley recently failed a drug test and was avoiding her social worker and DHR.  She also says her daughter and grandson were surrounded with love and even with help, but Ashley still chose the wrong path to motherhood.

"You can't be a mother and run the street. When you got a child, your life changes and everything should be focused on the best interest of the child," Bibb said.

While this grandmother starts the process to get custody of her 5 month old grandson, she also has to think about the other baby who's growing in her daughter's womb, as she is with child again.

"She wasn't raised like that. He didn't have to be did like that," Bibb said.
