Former ALDOT worker pleads guilty to sex charge

DEKALB COUNTY, AL (WAFF) - The former Alabama Department of Transportation employee accused of soliciting a teen online for sex entered a guilty plea on Thursday.

Daniel Nixon pleaded guilty to a charge of enticing a child for immoral purposes.

He was sentenced to five years. He must serve one year of that sentence and spend three years on probation.

Nixon must also register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.

Because he was out of bond at the time of his guilty plea, he is due to surrender to the DeKalb County Jail to begin serving his sentence no later than Monday at noon.
