Community fundraiser supports family of a Newport murder victim

COVINGTON, KY (FOX19) -

A community came together Sunday to support a Newport family who lost their son on Aug. 6.

Community members came together to support the family of D'Angelo Wilson who was shot and killed outside of a Newport apartment complex.

The community supported by throwing a fundraiser car wash and bake sale at the Advance Auto Parts in Covington.

Missy Tevis organized the event and says her heart went out to the Wilson's and the mother.

A 17-year-old suspect is behind bars but police have no released a motive.

All proceeds of the event go to Wilson's family.
