ADRIAN, MI (Toledo News Now) -

Police in Adrian are searching for whoever is responsible for spray-painting graffiti on the city's water tower.

The area around the tower is locked up and has barbed wire all around it, so authorities are still trying to figure out how somebody could've possibly broken in.

"Pecan Sandy," a graphic sexual reference, was spray-painted on the 150-foot tower on Beecher Street.  This isn't the first time those words have been spray-painted around town.

"We do have graffiti issues and we've seen it on some buildings and one other water tower in the area," said Police Chief Vince Emrick. "We also know that Tecumseh has had it appear in their town, as well."

Brenda Seegert's Crystal Café is right next door to the water tower.  She was shocked to hear about the vandalism.

"That is a shame. I don't know what's happening to this town," said Seegert. "It's too bad that someone has to climb [up there to fix it]. I can't believe they climbed that far up the water tower."

Adrian Police say they do have some suspects in mind.

A $500 cash reward is being offered for any tip that leads to an arrest. The water department is currently working on cleaning up the graffiti.
