BLOUNT COUNTY, AL (WBRC) -

The mother of man shot and killed in Blount County last month is speaking out.

Last month, Martha Mohammad's 34-year-old son, Ayatollah Muhammad, was shot and killed at a home in Locust Fork.

Investigators with the Blount County Sheriff's Office said they had been called out to the home twice the day of the shooting.

The initial call was for a domestic disturbance and the second call was about shots fired. Investigators said there were a few people inside the home at the time of the shooting.

Among those people, was a woman Martha said is Ayatollah's wife.

Martha said she is still struggling to come to grips with the loss of her only son and that she still has a lot of questions about what happened leading up to her son's death.

She said her son was going back and forth to Atlanta to find work from Blount County.

Martha said her son loved his wife dearly and that they would spend almost every moment together when they could.

She said she has been in constant contact with the Blount County Sheriff's Office as they continue their investigation.

"I can't even think straight. I can't even see straight. It's like I don't know what happened to my son. But if I have to spend the rest of my life I am going to find out what happened to my son," said Martha.

Martha had a lot of praise for the investigators but she's also thinking about getting an attorney.

Blount County District Attorney Pamela Casey said the investigation continues and it will go to a grand jury.

A juvenile who was also in the home at the time of the shooting has been questioned and has an attorney.

Fox 6 called the attorney representing him but our calls were not returned.
