Rain chances on the rise

Posted: Updated:
BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -

We are tracking our next rain maker that's located across the Missouri Valley.

The heart of the system is forecast to stay north of Alabama but a zone of lift is still forecast to swing through between the Sunday and Monday time frame.

That means rain chances will be on the rise and we could see showers develop as early as Sunday morning.

Widely scattered activity is more likely on Sunday afternoon and evening before waning at night. The biggest flare up is expected on Monday as the main instability axis passes through.

With drought conditions worsening across the state, rain is a must! The chance on Sunday is 40 percent which means widely scattered in nature.

On Monday, we'll see scattered to numerous showers and storms hence a 60 percent chance. After that, the chance for pop up showers and storms on a daily basis slowly decreases the upcoming rest of the week.

Unfortunately, the rounds of rain we potentially get over the next few days will probably not be drought busting.

So get ready to water the lawn and garden in full force later this week because it looks mainly dry after about Tuesday and very hot and humid.
