'Person of interest' identified in shooting of 5-year-old girl

BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -

Birmingham Police have identified a "person of interest" in Saturday's shooting of a 5-year old girl at Kingston Projects in the 900 block of 44th Place North

Lt. Sean Edwards says police will present the information to the District Attorney and hope to make an arrest on Monday.

Police say the girl was an innocent bystander when a gun was fired during an altercation nearby

She was taken to Children's of Alabama and doctors expect her to recover.
