DOTHAN, AL (WSFA) -

A Dothan woman is facing charges after authorities say she left her two children in the car while she went shopping at Walmart over the weekend.

Dothan police say Franswuan Marie Flowers left her two children, an 8-year-old and an 18-month-old, locked inside her vehicle while shopping at the Northside Walmart.

The incident occurred around 1 p.m. Saturday when a passerby noticed the children in the vehicle. The individual, who believed the 8-year-old was unconscious, called emergency officials.

Officials say after the 8-year-old awoke and unlocked the doors, Flowers returned to the vehicle. She then left the property but was stopped on Montgomery Highway and Plum Road by officers responding to the incident.

Flowers was arrested and charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child with a bond of $1,000.

Medical personnel checked the children and determined they were fine. It was also determined the children were sleeping during the incident.
