SPD: Third suspected arrested in smash-and-grab clothing store burglary

SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA) - A third suspect has been charged in connection with the "smash and grab" burglary of a west Shreveport business Wednesday morning.

Carl Grant, 20, is now charged with 1 count of simple burglary. Police say he and 2 other man shattered the glass storefront at The Edge clothing store in the 2400 block of Lakeshore Dr. early Wednesday morning and made off with thousands of dollars' worth of merchandise. 

18-year-old Brandon Adams and 19-year-old Kaylin Flemings were taken into custody that morning, after police arrived on the scene just before 3 a.m. and searched the area. Adams was captured after a brief chase, and Flemings was spotted lying on the ground in a trail behind some nearby homes.

Detectives discovered thousands of dollars of merchandise stolen from The Edge at a nearby vacant house. They also say they found evidence inside the house that they believe links Adams and Fleming to the robbery.

Adams is charged with simple burglary and resisting an officer. Flemings is charged with simple burglary and also booked on unrelated traffic warrants.

Grant was arrested Friday morning at his home in the 2800 block of Penick street, after authorities were able to link him to the crime. He was booked into the Shreveport City Jail, where he is charged with a single count of simple burglary. a spotted a man who was captured after a brief chase. They spotted a second man lying on the ground in a trail behind some nearby homes. Those men were later identified as 18-year-old Brandon Adams and 19-year-old Kaylin Flemings.

The two were taken to the Shreveport City Jail where Adams was charged with simple burglary and resisting an officer. Flemings was charged with simple burglary and also booked on unrelated traffic warrants.
