GENEVA CO., AL (WSFA) -

A man is dead following a shooting in Geneva County Wednesday evening.

According to Chief Deputy Tony Helms, the victim is Randy Emmett II. The shooting occurred in the Chancellor community at the intersection of County Road 22 and State Route 27 around 6 p.m.

Officials say it appears the shooting stemmed from an argument between Emmett and his father. Emmett was allegedly shot by a neighbor who stepped in.

The neighbor who allegedly fired the shot has not been charged. The Geneva County Sheriff's Office is speaking with District Attorney Kirk Adams about possible charges.

Deputies are also waiting on autopsy results and are speaking with witnesses.
