BRYANT, AL (WAFF) - A man was flown to the hospital after a deputy-involved shooting in Jackson County on Thursday night.

Deputies responded to a domestic situation at 1541 County Road 291 in Bryant at nightfall.

When deputies arrived on scene, they saw two women hiding behind a vehicle.

A man, later identified as Jerry David Nunley, came out of the home with a gun and walked toward the deputies, threatening to kill them.

The gunman raised his weapon and one of the officers fired his weapon at him.

Nunley was airlifted to Erlanger Hospital where he underwent surgery. His condition is unknown.
