MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) -

A Montgomery mother is facing charges of chemical endangerment of a child after her newborn baby tested positive for cocaine, court documents show.

Nichol Ballard, 42, gave birth to the baby boy at Jackson Hospital back on July 30th. Both the mother and child tested positive for the drug.

Ballard was arrested and taken to the Montgomery County Detention Facility where she's being held on a $15,000 bond.
