MOODY, AL (WBRC) -

The beginning of the football season is somber for students at Moody High School after Jonathan Harris, one of their players, was recently killed in a car accident.

State troopers say Jonathan Harris, 16, was badly injured when his 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee left Roberts Mill Pond Road and struck a tree.

He passed away from his injuries in the evening of Monday, August 18.

On Tuesday, the flag was flown at half staff at Moody High School to honor Harris.

Harris was on the football and wrestling teams at Moody High School.

Harris' favorite color was pink so fans donned pink shirts and his teammates wore pink wristbands.

The school also painted a ribbon on the field honoring Harris' memory.
