An outsider might have been a little surprised by the sea of pink in the stands on Friday night at Bill Morris Stadium in Moody.
Fans from both Moody and Hamilton high schools were paying tribute to the life of Jonathan Harris, a Moody sophomore football player who passed away on Monday night after a car wreck. Harris' favorite color has always been pink.
Moody also honored Harris by throwing balloons out before the game and senior Rodrellas Garner wore Harris' jersey in honor of his teammate. Despite the difficult week, the Blue Devils pulled their team together for the first game of the season.
There were several big defensive plays in the first half including two interceptions by Moody's Caleb Sciro in the first half. Hamilton had the first score of the game with a short run up the center by quarterback, Blake Stidham.
With only 35 seconds left in the first half, Moody quarterback Christian Weems tossed a 36-yard pass to Roderellas Garner to set the Blue Devils up for a score.
Moody kicked a 31-yard field goal in the third quarter to take the lead 10-7.
Stidham threw a pass to Santiago Cruz for a first down, setting the Aggies up for a short run up the center by Logan Rogers for another touchdown. Hamilton won 14-10.
