MADISON COUNTY, AL (WAFF) -

"Home is where the heart is."

It is that old adage which serves as the inspiration for a benefit that helps the elderly and the homebound.

CASA of Madison County, along with help from the Huntsville Woman's Club, hosted the 23rd-Annual "Kitchens for CASA" event on Sunday.

Participants took a self-guided tour of designer kitchens throughout neighborhoods across the county. All proceeds help CASA provide services such as home modifications and other means of support to let senior citizens and the homebound stay in their current residences.

"They may not have the extra money for different reasons, so it is strictly to benefit the elderly that need help," said volunteer Gena Black.

Year-round, CASA assists in projects like providing air conditioning units, winterizing homes, building wheelchair ramps and much more for those who need it most.
