The congregation of Bethel Baptist Church in Tuscaloosa is fondly remembering who was not only a member, but he ran their sound system.
Forty-one-year old Marcellus Brown was shot and killed Saturday evening after an altercation with another man at the Easy Money store on McFarland Blvd.
Tuscaloosa County's Metro homicide Unit says Brown and 38-year old Omar Petty, got in to an argument over what they say was a "personal issue."
Brown was a customer, when authorities say Petty shot and killed Brown, the father of a young daughter died from his injuries.
Brown was the father of a young daughter, and he also worked as a DJ. Church members are naturally devastated by his unexpected death.
"It's hard to understand what happened, we're not questioning God about it, but we're going to miss him. Don't know why things happened the way they did, his presence will be missed in this place, he served us in several areas of the church, tears have been falling all night," said Rev. Scmitt Moore, Pastor of Bethel Baptist Church.
Rev. Moore and his congregation changed the normal service Sunday morning, to let members talk and give testimony about how Brown touched them personally.
Rev. Moore and his church family are trying to understand how their brother and friend could be taken away from them. Brown was the father of a young daughter, and he also worked as a DJ.
"He was a great and loving brother that we're going to miss dearly. All of our hearts are torn as a result of what happened to him." Pastor Scmitt said.
