BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -

Birmingham police say the suspect in a hit and run that killed a mother of three has turned himself in.

Angela Marie McCall, 34, was struck and killed around midnight on August 13 in the 9500 block of Parkway East.

Family members said she was concerned about her nephew and went on a walk to clear her mind. She called her fiancé and asked him to pick her up moments before she was killed.

Last week police identified the suspect in the hit and run as 25-year-old Sylvester Taylor. Officials say he was driving a black Grand Prix that jumped a curb and hit McCall, killing her.

Birmingham Police Chief A.C. Roper said that instead of helping the victim, Taylor pulled out a gun and threatened witnesses at the scene. Police said Taylor then took the license plate off of his vehicle and drove away.

Taylor turned himself in to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department, BPD Lt. Scott Thurmond said on Monday.

Taylor is charged with manslaughter involving a motor vehicle and leaving the scene of an accident with injuries, according to police. He is being held in the Jefferson County Jail on no bond.

McCall's mother and sister say they will take care of her three children.
