Tucson's Delaney Schnell to compete for Team USA

Tucson Magnet High School sophomore Delaney Schnell is among the 19 divers selected to compete for Team USA at the upcoming FINA World Junior Diving Championships, set for September 9-14 in Penza, Russia.

The 15-year-old Schnell will compete in her signature event, the platform, in the 16-18 age group. Approximately 200 divers from 30 nations typically participate in the Junior World Championships, which are held every other year.

This will be Schnell's second trip to the World Junior Championships. In 2012, she placed sixth on platform in the 14-15 age group at the World Junior Championships in Adelaide, Australia.

Last year, she won the silver medal on platform at the Junior Pan American Championships at her home pool in Tucson.
