Butler Co. and children services union to meet for first time since strike

BUTLER COUNTY, OH (FOX19) -

For the first time since union members went on strike just over a week ago, representatives from the Butler County Children Services and the Independent Union will meet to try to come to an agreement.

Close to 200 children are without their regularly scheduled social worker and union members say they are like family to these children.

"All these people standing out here without a paycheck, those children are missing them," says Rebecca Palmer, a union member. "When you have someone in your life like a case worker, and then they're not there, it's devastating."

We also reached out to Butler County Children's Services to find out how the children are being assisted.

"Since the beginning of the strike last Monday, Butler County has been meeting the needs of our children with highly experienced and qualified workers who are either supervisory personnel, workers from outside agencies or caring union members who have placed the children ahead of all other considerations," said County Administrator Charles Young.

"We continue to welcome our employees back to their positions."

The two parties will meet at 1 p.m. Tuesday.
